On the Programmed/Non-Programmed Aging Controversy

This explains the key differences between programmed vs nonprogrammed aging theories. Both being radically different in their attempts to explain the mechanisms behind aging, a resolution to the problem would greatly affect medical research in studying processes of age-related diseases. Evidence is growing for a programmed theory due to discoveries such as genes that cause aging and the effects that are caused by engaging in calorie restriction diets.
